Client Services

Our Services

  • Ambulatory: Each of our five veterinarians is equipped with trucks to provide full service care for your large animals in a field setting. Our ambulatory services include primary care, preventative medicine and vaccinations, lameness and pre-purchase examinations, reproductive services, and dental procedures.

  • Emergency: The veterinarians at The Oaks Equine & Farm Services are available for emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We pride ourselves on providing our clients with extremely reliable emergency services. If you have an emergency or to reach the veterinarian on call, please call the clinic at (757) 365-4887 or toll free at (888) 365-4887. If you are calling after hours please listen to the menu options carefully.

  • Lameness Exams & Pre-Purchase Exams: Lameness evaluation is a major part of our clinic's caseload. Lameness workups can be done in the field as well as in our clinic. The Oaks offers the latest in equine radiography with 2 digital CR portable x-ray systems which allow our veterinarians to obtain excellent quality radiographs. Our veterinarians perform a large number of pre-purchase exams annually for a wide variety of equine clients. We offer basic pre-purchase exams to more extensive exams with flexion and radiographs.

  • Obstetrics and Reproduction: One of our goals here at The Oaks Equine and Farm Services is to provide high quality individualized care and attention to mares and foals during breeding and foaling season. We feel that this is the best way to maximize reproductive success. Please call us with questions regarding your specific needs.

  • Dentistry: Routine dental care is essential to your horse’s health. Our veterinarians recommend periodic examinations and regular maintenance, such as floating, to keep your horse's teeth healthy. With proper dental care your horse will be more comfortable, will utilize feed more efficiently, may perform better, and may even live longer.

  • Chiropractic: Chiropractic care is a manual therapy which focuses on dysfunction of the spine and its effect on the nervous system. It can be used for a variety of problems as well as a prophylactic treatment to maintain optimum health and fitness. Drs. Lombardi and Mattingly are certified with the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA) and have extensive training.

  • Surgery: Surgical services performed by our veterinarians include laceration repairs, castrations, mass removals/cryotherapy, dental surgery, and a variety of other routine and emergency procedures.

  • Internal Medicine: There are numerous diagnostic tools used at our practice to investigate the problems that affect horses. Our clinic is equipped with a 1 meter videoendoscope which allows visualization of nasal sinuses, guttural pouches and larynx. We also have a 3 meter endoscope that allows our veterinarians to view the inside of a horse’s stomach. This is especially useful in horses that we suspect are suffering from gastric ulceration.

  • In-House Lab Services: We offer in-house and outside diagnostic labwork for reliable and fast results.

  • Nutrition, Management & Herd Health Consultation

The Oaks Veterinary Clinic Equine and Farm Services is proud to offer specially designed wellness packages to our equine clients. They are designed to provide the highest level of care to the horse and the most value for the owner.
