OUR VETERINARIANS
F. Garrett Edwards, DVM
Dr. Edwards earned his bachelors of science degree in crop, soil, and environmental sciences from Virginia Polytechnical Institute and State University, and achieved his DVM from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. He has a strong interest in equine and cattle reproduction. Dr. Edwards was born, raised, and currently resides in Smithfield. When he is not assisting our clients with their large animal needs, you can find him on the family farm tending to his own cattle and horses. He spends a majority of his free time with his two children Rett and Hannah and their activities, and enjoys fishing, horseback riding, swimming, and canoeing.
Cathleen Lombardi, DVM
Dr. Lombardi has a bachelors of science degree in animal science from Cornell University and earned her DVM in 2003 from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She attended a 1 year post DVM internship in large animal surgery at Virginia Tech and has special interest in dentistry, lameness, and internal medicine. She has been an active volunteer with the United States Equine Rescue League of Tidewater for the past 2 years. Dr. Lombardi was raised in New York and currently resides in Carrollton with her husband Jay Hollingsworth, and their and cat "Kitty". She enjoys riding her horse "Missy" in her spare time.
Shanna French, DVM
Dr. French obtained her bachelors of science degree and DVM from Auburn University in Alabama. She has a strong intrest in equine reproduction and cattle work. Dr. French was raised in Lenoir City Tennessee, and resides in Carrollton. She has a dog named "Squash" that rides along with her in the truck, and 2 Appaloosa horses that she enjoys riding in her free time. She also enjoys canoeing and eating her favorite foods.
Jessica S. Mattingly, DVM
Dr. Mattingly earned her undergraduate and DVM from Texas A&M University. She is originally from Corpus Christi Texas. She moved to Virginia with her husband James Peavy and joined our practice in the fall of 2008. Dr. Mattingly has special intrest in breeding, internal medicine, and lameness. She has 2 horses, a Thorobred named "Jack" and a pony named "JJ".

Joan Cook
Joan has been employed with The Oaks Veterinary Clinic for over 16 years. She is a native of the Smithfield area and is married with 2 children, 4 cats, and a horse. She has a passion for animals and enjoys reading, horseback riding, and swimming in her spare time.
Linda Williams
Linda is a native of Albermarle North Carolina. Her and her husband Andy live in Surry County with their 3 horses and 2 cats. Linda has 4 children and 3 grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, swimming, spending time with her grandchildren, and playing Wii.
Karen Woodcock
Karen is from upstate New York and currently resides in Smithfield with her husband Allie and their 2 Yorkshire Terriers. She has a daughter that lives in Illinois and a son in the coast guard who is stationed in Nags Head. Karen has traveled all over the US and has lived on both east and west coasts. She enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, kayaking and reading.
Katherine Cale
Katherine is a native of Dayton Virginia and grew up on a family farm where they raised turkeys, sheep, and cattle. She moved to Carrsville in 2008 with her husband Michael and their beagle mix "Nadi". In her spare time she enjoys traveling, movies, baking, and shopping.
Christina Mathias
Christina is one of our veterinary assistants. She is a native of Suffolk and lives in Whaleyville with her family. She attended the Institute of Applied Agriculture at the University of Maryland with a focus in Equine Buisness Management. She spends her evenings trail riding with her 2 horses. When she is not in the saddle, she is spending time with her fiance Robbie who is in the Coast Guard.
Jennifer Miodowski
Jennifer is from Lake Orion, Michigan. She moved to the area in 2004 with her husband and resides in Hobbsville, NC. She is one of our veterinary assistants. She has 2 dogs, "Morgan" and "Shady", and enjoys showing her horse, "Eclipse", and competing in hunter-over-fences classes.
Stacy Liszka
Stacy is a native of Virginia Beach and currently resides in Suffolk. She attended Virginia Intermont College with a focus in Biology and Equine Studies. She is currently attending Tidewater Community College and will be joining the US Navy in March. In her spare time she enjoys riding horses and spending time with friends.
Halie Repka
Halie is originally from Jacksonville, Florida and currenly lives in Ivor. She is a recent graduate of Smithfield High School and attends Paul D. Camp Community College. Her goal is to attend Virginia Tech to become a veterinarian. She enjoys drawing and spending time with her horses.
